I grew up in Kentucky and started violin at age 10. Throughout my time in the classical music profession, I have come to believe that for many, the arts represents a pinnacle in human achievement and that access to a quality music education should be a basic right for everyone. For most of my career, and in the immediate future, I strive to create an empowering environment where all can have high quality access to music education.
There are currently many issues with music education ranging from access to teachers, resources, or any other number of obstacles that youth face throughout our education systems. Unfortunately, these issues exclude many from being cultivated in the arts in meaningful ways. One way to improve these disproportions is focusing on how we can tailor music education specifically for each student, especially in the purist of passion-driven careers within the music profession.
I want to provide that to all of you - an education that’s for everyone. The classical music profession should be able to grow into a place that also reflects upon its core values and goals. We cannot do that without improving our education structures. And I will fight to achieve this everyday through my own performances, teaching, and leading organizations.
